Mrs Birchall's Welcome Message

Welcome to Eccleston St. Mary’s Church of England Primary School - a happy, friendly, welcoming and nurturing Christian environment at the heart of the local community.

At St. Mary’s we value every child as a unique individual and we encourage them to aspire to achieve their very best in everything they do. We value high academic achievement but we also give children every opportunity to develop other talents, whether those talents are sporting, creative or dramatic.

We also believe in the importance of developing well-rounded individuals and we feel that a child’s social and emotional development is just as important as their academic achievements. We encourage children to have confidence in themselves and our school motto – ‘Believe and Achieve’ – encapsulates the idea that through belief in God and in yourself, all things are possible. Our two favourite words are perseverance and resilience and we encourage the children always to keep on trying, no matter how hard a task may seem, believing that they will get there in the end.

We want children to be happy and fulfilled at school, but we know that no two are the same and what suits one child may not suit another. This is why we offer them a wealth of varied opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. The Forest School and Woodland Lodge, as well as our EYFS outdoor area enable the children to learn in a variety of different ways, in varying environments. We also take them out of school on a number of different educational visits, covering everything from pond-dipping to archaeological digs, from paddling at the seaside to visiting a Hindu Temple.

We also encourage our pupils to realise their responsibility towards other people, whether within our own school, the wider community or indeed globally. Every year we support a number of different charities, whether it be national appeals such as Comic Relief or Children in Need or appeals nearer to home - recently we have supported both Derian House and the  Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

If you would like to know more about our school, please have a good look around this website. Once you've done that, why not come for a visit? Simply call the school office for an appointment. We'd love you to see us in action - the very best way to get to know us.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

With very best wishes,

Jacqueline Birchall
