Arts Week

Our traditional Arts Week in our Anniversary year was all about 'St Mary's through the Ages.' Each class had a different decade to study and the children learned allsorts about that time in History including fashion, special events, popular food, favourite toys and so on.

During the week, each class learned a dance to a song from their decade and we performed these for parents at the end of the week - at the same time as we dressed up in the sorts of clothes people would have been wearing during our chosen decade.

In addition, we welcomed a number of visitors, including Dame Sue Bourne, a former pupil who rose to lead one of the foremost special schools in the country; Judith Schofield, a local historian who shared a number of artefacts which might have been used by St. Mary's pupils in days gone by; and former Headteacher, Mr Bill Mann, who regaled us with many funny stories about his time in charge at St. Mary's.

It was a truly informative - and hugely enjoyable - week!
